Everyone at the Kent Phoenix was saddened to learn of the death of former Mayor of Maidstone, and long time Maidstone Borough Councillor, Marion Ring. Marion was elected to Maidstone council to represent Shepway North Ward in 2003 and served faithfully until 2023.

Cllr Ring was a great supporter of the Kent Phoenix and she helped us a great deal in establishing ourselves in Shepway at the Youth and Community Centre in our early days. She also helped us to improve the facilities we offer in Shepway and to secure funding. She was very keen to encourage us to provide healthy and positive activities for children and young people in her ward.

We know we weren’t alone in receiving her support. Cllr Ring had a great passion for her local community and supported many organisations over the years.

We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Marion for all her support. Our thoughts are especially with her husband and family, her friends and former colleagues at this very sad time.
