Casey heads to Serbia with GB flag squad

Casey trains with Great Britain ahead of the IFAF ChampionshipsKent Phoenix’s very own Casey is flying to Serbia this week with the under 17 Great Britain Flag Football squad to compete in the European Championships.

Having been selected for the training squad earlier this year, in July Casey found out that she had been named as part of the girls travelling squad to compete in the 2024 IFAF European Youth Flag Football Championships in Serbia. This will be her first time taking part with the girls Great Britain team.

Having received her GCSE results this Summer and started back for year 12 this week, Casey will fly on Thursday to Belgrade, Serbia to take part in the tournament over the weekend.

Talking  about the prospect of taking part, Casey says:

“I am excited and a bit nervous. This will be my first tournament with Great Britain and I am looking forward to learning from the experience. I hope we do well. We have a really good squad and all the girls and coaches are helpful and supportive. Let’s go GB!”

The good news for the rest of us is that we will be able to tune in to watch Casey and the rest of the team through the IFAF website. You can create an account quickly and easily at IFAF.tv and then watch as many games over the weekend as you want. As Casey says “let’s go GB”… “let’s go Casey”!

The Kent Phoenix runs Flag Football squads for Under 11s and Under 14s and also has a kitted (contact) team for Under 19s. All of our teams are open to girls and boys who play in fully mixed teams at children and youth level.
